First Amendment

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise  thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

The AWC Matrix Foundation honors people who have made outstanding contributions to furthering First Amendment  rights, including freedom of information, with the organization’s First Amendment Award. Past winners of this award include: Lucy Dalglish, Barbara Cochran, John Seigenthaler, Senator Barbara Boxer, Susanna Weiss, Jane Kirtley, and Joy Hakim.
