Jennifer “Jenny” Engle, an award winning marketing/communications professional and entrepreneur, is the latest AWC member to achieve her Certified Communications Professional (CCP) designation from the AWC Matrix Foundation.  As the owner and principal of jke marketing & communications, she is active in both for- and not-for-profit sectors.  Her business, which is Green Plus Certified, focuses on helping her clients learn how to create exciting, sustainable futures for themselves and their organizations.

Ericksen Scholarships Bring Colorado and Washington Students to National Conference

BrittanyMooreUniversity of Colorado (Boulder) AWC Co-President Brittany Moore and Washington State University AWC President Tallie Mattson were both awarded Barbara Ericksen scholarships to attend this year’s AWC professional conference. 
Moore is a double degree (Broadcast Journalism and Business Administration) senior with a distinguished resume who is planning a career in broadcast journalism following her graduation in 2013.  She is perhaps best known for organizing a very successful networking trip to Los Angeles for eight student members of AWC this past January.
TallieMattsonA Public Relations major, chapter Vice President Mattson stepped up to assume presidential responsibilities a year ahead of schedule when the chapter needed her leadership. Mattson rallied the organization’s officers, developed a strategic plan and guided the chapter through its annual fundraising event, all leading to a successful start of the current year’s activities. Mattson plans a career in public relations in Vancouver, Washington following her graduation in May, 2012.

Anne Hecker, Matrix Foundation Board Member, 1924-2009

altAnne Hecker, tireless and passionate advocate for the Association for Women in Communications, its mission and the goals of its educational affiliate, the AWC Matrix Foundation — passed away on April 4, 2009, at age 84.  Anne has served  on the board of the AWC Matrix Foundation, AWC’s educational affiliate since 2000 where she served as vice chair and as secretary/treasurer. Anne was mentored by Georgina MacDougall Davis, one of the founders of AWC (known early on as Theta Sigma Phi). Her most recent endeavor has been co-developing the AWC Matrix Foundation’s Certification Program for Professional Communicators.
